Bali Visa for Canadians (2026).
Over 100,000 Canadian passport holders fly to Bali every year, most of them via Taipei, Hong Kong, Seoul or Singapore — there are no direct flights from Canada. Canadian citizens are fully eligible for Indonesia's eVOA: applied online, issued in 1–3 working days, no embassy visit. Because the journey from Toronto or Vancouver runs 22+ hours with connections, the golden rule for Canadians is simple: have the visa, the Tourist Levy receipt and the Declaration Form sorted before the first leg. This page covers the 2026 rules with prices in Canadian dollars.
Question 01
Do Canadians need a visa for Bali?
Yes. Canadian citizens need a visa for Bali in 2026 — the eVOA is the standard route: apply online before flying, 30 days on entry, extendable once to 60.
Canadian passport holders qualify for the Electronic Visa on Arrival (eVOA) issued before departure, or the identical Visa on Arrival paid at the Denpasar airport counter. From Canada the eVOA is clearly the better option: your itinerary includes at least one long-haul connection, and airlines on the Asian legs ask for visa or onward-travel proof at check-in. For stays beyond 60 days — a winter escape, a remote-work season — apply for the C1 Tourist Visa (formerly B211A) before travelling: 60 days on arrival, extendable twice to 180.
Visa options for Canadian passports
eVOA (E-Visa on Arrival) — the default for vacations up to 30 days, extendable once in-country to 60. Government fee IDR 500,000 (about C$48), issued in 1–3 working days. C1 Tourist Visa (formerly B211A) — the long-stay route: 60 days on arrival, two extensions, 180 days maximum. Requires an Indonesian sponsor, included in our service. C2 / D2 Business Visas — single-entry or multi-year multiple-entry for recurring business in Indonesia. KITAS — residence permits for remote workers (E33G), investors (E28A), retirees (E33F) and families. All lodged from our Bali office.
Bali visa cost in Canadian dollars (2026)
The eVOA government fee is IDR 500,000 — about C$48. Every traveller also pays the IDR 150,000 (~C$14) Bali Tourist Levy through the separate Love Bali portal. With our agency fee included, a complete eVOA application for a Canadian passport typically lands between C$70 and C$120 depending on standard or urgent processing. The C1 Tourist Visa runs around C$225 in government and sponsor fees. We charge in USD through Stripe — Canadian cards are charged once, with your bank's usual conversion.
How to apply from Toronto, Vancouver or Montreal (4 steps)
1. Check your passport — 6+ months' validity beyond arrival and 2 blank pages. 2. Apply for the eVOA — on the official portal at evisa.imigrasi.go.id, or through our agency for a checked, hands-off application. 3. Pay the Tourist Levy at lovebali.baliprov.go.id before departure. 4. Submit the All Indonesia Declaration Form within 3 days before arrival — its QR code is scanned with your eVOA at the e-gates. We send all four steps as one WhatsApp checklist timed to your flight.
Snowbirds and long stays
Canadians escaping winter for a season use the C1 Tourist Visa — 180 days covers November through April without leaving Indonesia. Remote work for a Canadian employer is permitted on the eVOA and the C1; local Indonesian employment requires a Working KITAS (E23). Retirees aged 60+ qualify for the Retirement KITAS (E33F) with renewable 1-year terms, and Indonesia's E33G Remote Worker KITAS grants a full year of residence for those working online with non-Indonesian income. Watch-outs
Common mistakes Canadians make.
Pitfall 01
Discovering the visa rule at YVR or YYZ
There is no visa-free entry for Canadian passports. Airlines flying the Asia legs check for an eVOA or onward proof at check-in — sort the visa the week you book, not the week you fly.
Pitfall 02
Forgetting the Tourist Levy
The IDR 150,000 (~C$14) levy is paid on a separate portal (Love Bali), not with your visa. Customs at Ngurah Rai scans the QR receipt after you land — pay it before 22 hours of flying, not after.
Pitfall 03
Passport validity under 6 months
Indonesia enforces 6 months' validity from arrival. Canadian passport renewals can take weeks in peak season — check expiry before booking.
Pitfall 04
Planning a full winter on a 60-day visa
The eVOA cannot be extended past 60 days or converted in-country. A November-to-March stay needs the C1 Tourist Visa from the start — otherwise you're paying for a visa run to Singapore mid-season.

Ask on WhatsApp- Do Canadians need a visa for Bali in 2026?
Yes. Canadian citizens need a visa to enter Indonesia — visa-free entry is not available. Most Canadians use the eVOA: applied online, issued in 1–3 working days, valid 30 days and extendable once to 60.
- How much is a Bali visa for Canadians?
The eVOA government fee is IDR 500,000 — about C$48. Add the mandatory IDR 150,000 (~C$14) Bali Tourist Levy. With our agency fee, a complete eVOA application typically costs between C$70 and C$120 depending on processing speed.
- How long can Canadians stay in Bali?
30 days on the eVOA, extendable once to 60 days total. The C1 Tourist Visa (formerly B211A) covers 60 days on arrival with two in-country extensions — 180 days maximum, enough for a full Canadian winter.
- Are there direct flights from Canada to Bali?
No. Typical routings from Toronto, Vancouver or Montreal connect through Taipei, Hong Kong, Seoul, Tokyo or Singapore — around 22–28 hours door to door. Your visa should be confirmed before the first leg, as Asian carriers check documents at check-in.
- Can I work remotely from Bali on a Canadian passport?
Working for a Canadian employer or clients is permitted on the eVOA and C1 Tourist Visa. Local Indonesian employment requires a Working KITAS. For year-long stays, the E33G Remote Worker KITAS grants 12 months of residence with multi-entry travel.
- What documents do Canadians need for the Bali eVOA?
A passport valid 6+ months with two blank pages, a return or onward ticket, your first accommodation address, a recent plain-background photo, and an email address. Proof of funds only applies to the C1 Tourist Visa.
- Do Canadian children need their own Bali visa?
Yes. Every traveller — including infants — needs their own eVOA, own Tourist Levy payment and own Declaration Form. We consolidate family applications into one WhatsApp thread and one payment.
- What happens if I overstay my Bali visa?
Indonesian Immigration charges IDR 1,000,000 (~C$90) per day of overstay, collected on departure. Overstays beyond 60 days risk deportation and re-entry bans. Extensions cost a fraction of the fine — we lodge them remotely before your deadline.
