Checklist · updated July 2026
Bali visa requirements, as a checklist.
For the eVOA — the visa most Bali travellers need — you only need five things: a passport valid 6+ months, a return ticket, an accommodation address, a recent photo and an email address. Longer-stay visas add proof of funds and an Indonesian sponsor. Here is the complete document list for every Indonesian visa type, plus the photo and scan rules that stop applications bouncing back.
Document checklists
Pick your visa, tick the boxes.
E-Visa on Arrival — holidays & trips up to 60 days
Passport valid 6+ months
Counted from your arrival date in Indonesia, with at least 2 blank pages. A clear scan of the photo page, in landscape, uncovered.
Return or onward ticket
Proof you leave Indonesia within 30 days (or 60 with the extension planned). A booking confirmation PDF or screenshot is fine.
Accommodation address
Your first hotel, villa or host address in Indonesia. It can be updated after arrival.
Recent personal photo
Plain white or light-grey background, face fully visible, no filters, taken within 6 months.
Email address
The visa arrives as a PDF with a QR code — keep it on your phone or print one copy.

Everything on the eVOA list
Passport scan, ticket, accommodation, photo, email.
Proof of funds

Mandatory for every C1 application. We provide the sponsor as part of our service — you don't need to find one.

Passport valid 18+ months
Multi-year visas require a passport that outlasts the visa validity.

A short CV outlining your role and the business activities you'll perform in Indonesia.
Proof of funds

Corporate sponsor / guarantor
Provided through our partner companies, or your own PT PMA if you have one.
Recent photograph
Plain background, taken within the last 6 months.
KITAS residence permits — living in Indonesia
Passport valid 18+ months
Must comfortably outlast the permit term.
Category-specific sponsor documents
Company NIB and tax ID for working KITAS, marriage certificate for family KITAS, proof of remote income for E33G — we send you the exact list for your category.
CV and qualifications
Especially for the working KITAS (E23).
Health & police checks
Some categories require a basic medical check and police clearance — we book both for you in Bali.
Several photographs
Plain-background portraits used across the application packet.
Scan & photo rules
Where most applications go wrong.
Indonesian Immigration rejects more applications for bad scans than for any other reason. Three rules cover almost every case:
- • The photo is sharp, in focus, and not ghosted.
- • Nothing is covered, cropped or folded — and nothing is blurry.
- • The passport photo page is scanned in landscape form.
Reference examples from Indonesian Immigration are shown on the right — we check every upload against them before lodging.

Requirements FAQ
Document questions, answered.
What documents do I need for a Bali visa?
For the eVOA — the visa most travellers need — five things: a passport valid 6+ months with two blank pages, a return or onward ticket, an accommodation address, a recent plain-background photo, and an email address. The C1 Tourist Visa adds proof of funds (USD 2,000 bank statement) and an Indonesian sponsor, which we provide.
How long does my passport need to be valid for Bali?
At least 6 months from your date of arrival in Indonesia for the eVOA and C1, with a minimum of 2 blank pages. Multi-year business visas and KITAS permits require 18 months' validity. Airlines check this at check-in — a 5-month passport means denied boarding.
What are the photo requirements for a Bali visa?
A recent portrait (within 6 months) on a plain white or light-grey background, face fully visible, no glasses glare, no filters, no cropping from group photos. Blurry, dark or heavily edited photos are the single most common reason applications bounce back.
Do I need proof of funds for the eVOA?
No — proof of funds is not part of the standard eVOA checklist. It's required for the C1 Tourist Visa (B211A): a bank statement in your name showing roughly USD 2,000 or the equivalent, issued within the last 3 months.
Do I need a sponsor for a Bali visa?
Not for the eVOA. The C1 (B211A), C2 business visa and every KITAS category require an Indonesian sponsor or corporate guarantor. Finding one yourself is the hardest part of a DIY application — we include a compliant sponsor in our service.
Can I use a screenshot of my ticket and bank statement?
Tickets: yes, a clear booking confirmation screenshot or PDF works. Bank statements: a PDF export from your online banking is best — it should show your name, the date and the balance on one page. Cropped screenshots that hide the account holder's name get rejected.
What about the Bali Tourist Levy — is it a document?
The IDR 150,000 Tourist Levy is a separate provincial payment, not a visa document. You pay it through the Love Bali portal and show the QR receipt at customs. It's required for every visitor to Bali regardless of visa type — we can bundle it with your visa application.
